Is there a song or series of songs you listen to as you write? What songs play in your head as you sit writing? Does music comfort you as you write? Do you become part of the songs playing while writing? Does a set of words from a song find their way into what you write?
Talk about music and you.

This made me remember that one time in the 11th grade, my English teacher played some R.E.M. while we did some creative writing assignment. He was a cool teacher.

I have a pyrokinetic character named Mishaela who is partially inspired by at least 2 songs. More songs influenced her than just 2, but at the current moment, I only remember Desert Rose by Sting and....Mishaela by Noa.
And a character named Khael partially inspired by a Dethklok song: Laser Cannon Deth Sentence.

That last one is too heavy! Ow!!! That'll teach me to have the volume up. The middle one is pretty and spiritual. First one reminds me of youth all over again. Lovely.

But that heaviness alone may tell you a lot about that character. Khael could be described as "mentally heavy", physically underweight as he is, with a hard head and many burdens he tries to ignore. Being a military experiment can do that to you. He also seems to be influenced by Wolverine, if Wolverine was a hemophiliac almost-Jew in a fictional world where no Earth religions technically exist. So Khael is only an almost-Jew because his religion is only partially inspired by Judaism. Mishaela is the eldest of 3 nomadic sisters, all adventurers in their own way, native to a hot volcanic desert. She is indeed both young and spiritual, though less "traditionally" spiritual than her younger sisters. Her personality and behavior is somewhat reminiscent of Indiana Jones. Baby sister Lillian took on the "housekeeper" role after their parents died, middle sister Leila went blind trying to see God up close, and Mishaela travels the world as a pirate and mercenary.

You can be more than one thing. Sometimes those parts have layers and you described several right there.
There is truth ie. a realistic setting in your character Mishaela. Part of which I can relate to.
You realize in a way you already began writing. It's just scattered out from here to there.

In a way, I suppose I never really quit writing. The creative flow may been dammed by various blockages, but like all energy, it will find an outlet. Someone on a rewilding forum once said "art is just basic maintenance". I totally get that, because we're all art. Art is maintaining ourselves and our sanity.

Nice way to look at it. Some would say beyond realistic but as someone on here would say... what is reality anyway? I think on some level, you'd get along with our oldest member here because on a singular level when you break thoughts down, you remind me of him. He is a complicated thinker and writer at times. He never stops actually thinking. (neither do you)
But allow me to put a simple twist on it here for those who may come along and read.....
Our minds move and flow in patterns, what we call a block is nothing more than a pause in that movement. Think outside of it and the block fades. (or in most cases, different thoughts begin to flow)

Anyway: "Reality is a dangerous concept" - Dr. Havant, Blake's 7, episode The Way Back, written by Terry Nation, BBC Production, 1978 "Thoughts create a new heaven, a new firmament, a new source of energy, from which new arts flow." - Paracelsus ( coming soon to a quote page near you!) .

Songs can influence my work sometimes. There have been stories I've written where the title of the story or its chapters were directly influenced by songs and/or included the names/lyrics as part of the chapters.
Nice discussion here. I have already learned a lot and am glad I joined this forum.
